| I've not been around this site in several months, but thought I'd drop in and see what's been happening. Hope all is well with everyone! I've been busy this past summer starting a new band. Finally we have all the pieces in place--2 guitars (we both trade off on electric & acoustic as needed), bass, drums, keys/synth. Our keyboard player and the other guitarist share vocals. When we put all our original material together we have over two hours of our own stuff. Hope to record at some point. We were able to put a small, but workable practice studio together in our drummer's new house and with any luck the recording side of things will come together as well. We played one original song at our county fair earlier this summer, about 8 songs at a small outdoor festival a few weeks ago, and have an indoor play date scheduled for October at a 750 seat church not too far from my home. We're also hoping to be hitting the local coffee house circuit (for lack of a better description) in a month or two. I'll try to drop in more often once the weather cools down, but right now we're still in the '80's and I'm enjoying all I can of the outdoors before the northwest monsoons begin.

| Hello Dulcimerist, I've done a few re-worked hymns in other bands I've played with, but our present band is not doing any. We're focused mainly on contemporary music and eventually we would like to do only our own material (75% anyway). I have to confess I'm not a big fan of most of the older hymns, but I do like what Jars of Clay did on their "Redemption Songs" CD in 2005. I wouldn't mind doing a special project like that oneday, but I really prefer more contemporary sounding music myself. Our own material is all over the place. Some sounds at times like R&B to some people, a few of our songs are somewhat bluesy sounding, some are more like classic rock, and some stuff kinda sounds like, well I don't know, actually. I'm personally not wanting us to sound too "churchy." There are enough other bands doing that and, personally, I just don't see the need for yet another band doing a song that has been done by 20 other bands, each of them doing it almost the exact same way. (mini-rant over!) Since we all work at day jobs were trying to be realistic and only looking at playing out somewhat locally at the present, but who knows, that may change someday.
