| Krispy Kirk (2/22/2007) ET, that's just about the saddest thing thing I've ever read. How did any human ever accomplish anything if what you are saying is true? Thanks to thousands of brave souls who did trust in and "believe in" themselves, we have our amazing modern world of technological convenience that we have grown so accustomed to and comfortable with. Now, if you're ready to give up electricity, modern medicine, physics, representative government, the flying machine, psychology, internal combustion, literature, indoor plumbing, antibiotics, philosophy, space travel, the Internet, etc. just so we can go back to not trusting in our own miserably inadequate and unreliable human capability and resign ourselves to throwing our collective lot in with that of the old egotistical misogynistic bastard YHWH (aka "Jehovah", aka the "I Am" aka "God The Father"), go for it! To paraphrase Slayer, if that's the best you got, I'll take Satan. At least he gave people the courage to believe in themselves! .............................................................................................................. "I don't believe in God because I don't believe in Mother Goose" - Clarence Darrow I see your point and I don't discount all the great and wonderful things and breakthroughs man has accomplished. But for every accomplishment that is good, man eventually uses for evil. Every time. I think it is great to search out and discover and invent new things and use them to better mankind and the planet. But, mankind is too corrupt to ever use this knowledge only for good. People who trust in themselves though are trusting in the "creation" and not in the creator to whom we would not exist. Do I or you exist and all our abilities because we created ourselves? Did I give myself a brain and eyes to see and legs to walk and hands to work with etc? No. Whatever I am and whatever things I am able to do or to discover was placed here by someone other than me. So, in my opinion, all of mans great accomplishments are only possible because the Creator made it possible. Without Him we can do nothing. Satan's "gift" of knowledge to mankind was the knowledge of evil. One I really don't want to thank him for.

| Krispy Kirk (2/24/2007) "But for every accomplishment that is good, man eventually uses for evil." - ET Wow, another sweeping, sad, cynical generalization. You just can't give your species any credit can you? ............................................................... "Man has to be his own savior" - Ian McCulloch "Man has to be his own savior." I actually agree, in a strange kind of way. That is why God became a man! Jesus/Savior = God incarnated as a human being. Jesus actually labeled himself the "Son of Man." It's Man making himself God that I have the problem with. I believe that God has made mankind with incredible abilities. In the Tower of Babel story (where Man is exalting himself to the skies) God Himself said that "now nothing which they have purposed to do will be impossible for them."-Genesis 11:6 Imagine God Himself saying that Man can do the impossible! So, I'm not denying the fact that Man is an awesome creation. But only in the fact that we were created in the image of God and that He has installed in us a brain in which we can acquire all sorts of knowledge and abilities. The problem God has with mankind is not that he is capable of doing astonishing things, but that He knows it will be used for all the wrong reasons. I believe God wants man to become a perfect "heavenly being." But Mankind wants to do it on our own terms with the help of Satan, which has many wrong motives behind it.
