Check out the Young Dubliners!  I saw them in concert in 2005, and twice in 2006.  They ROCK!!!  Celtic fiddle music and jigs done with punk energy with tube screamin' Vox amps!!!

Much like ska-punk, Irish themed punk is good in small doses.  However, much like the ska-punk fad a few years back, there seems to be glut of Celt-rock at the moment, ranging from the inoffensive (i.e. the tossers), to the frighteningly overtestosterized (i.e. dropkick murphys) to the just plain awful (see, e.g. flogging molly).  That said, this young dubliners band you linked to isn't too bad - they seem to hew close enough to the sound and spirit of the pogues to justify a pint-sized listen.

Yeah - I agree that Celtic rock is a bit overhyped at the moment.  The Young Dubliners are the only band in that genre that I like.  They do have a bit of depth, doing some good ballads; and they're from Ireland, so they're authentic.

The Dropkick Murphies are entertaining in small doses, but I'd classify them as Gaelic Rock.  Aren't most of their songs Scottish-flavored?

Don't let their overuse of bagpipes confuse you, the dropkick murphys are, in theory at least, aiming for an irish, rather than scottish, sound.

Cool!  The Dropkick Murphy's cover of an old Kingston Trio song is my favorite of theirs!
