I am currently using the heaviest pack of flatwounds that I can, but I am wondering why they don't come in a heavier pack. They make the singles for the heavier pack, yet don't seel them in a package. Any reason for this?

Chromes aren't "mainstream" quite yet, and have a limited base of musicians who use them so far.  Coming up with packaging for a few additional sets that might or might not sell well would be quite a bit of an investment on the part of D'Addario, which is the main reason that heavy-gauge bass Chromes sets have not been put together and marketed yet.

I'd love to see them blend the high strings of the Chromes light-gauge bass set with the low strings of the Chromes medium gauge bass set, so we're both in the same boat at the moment.  Chromes feel so good on a bass!!!

For the moment, buying the singles are the best option for those of us who want alternate sets.  Since I love using Chromes on my dulcimer, I buy singles for that instrument, too.

As Dulcimerist mentioned the Chromes are not as popular overall, but gaining in popularity as more bass players outside of the Jazz genre are discovering them as a great option for warm low end in other genres of music.  As they become more popular we will certainly expand upon the line, but it's difficult to make the commitment to a such a new set (new packaging, new production specs, new catalogs, etc.) for a very small amount of people that will actually play them.  The singles are available as mentioned, but I totally hear you with the ease of purchasing the set you want!  I hope you can understand the logic behind this, and hope we can offer such a set in the future when Chromes become even more popular!  Thanks!

I really like the ECB81s on my P-bass. Don't know if I'd go with a heavy set, but I do dig the product
