Hey im kinda new to the whole string buying thing. I usually have stuck with regulars, but I have decided I want a different sound. I am looking for one of these two, a really heavy sound that you hear when you listen to metal type of music or that higher pitched sound that you hear in solos in stuff like acdc. If you could tell me the right strings to get that would be great.

For that style, stainless steel would be the route to go:

Strings won't have as huge of an effect as the amp or distortion that you use.  What other gear are you using?  If you don't have a good distortion box yet, I highly recommend the DigiTech DF-7:

I have a distorter, but i dont really like it too much. I will have to look into that one. I know strings dont affect sound much, but i was just wanting to get as close as possible, thanks for suggesting those and for the links.

<slap> to LP for mentioning the naughty brand!    Ernie Balls might be worth a try, for comparison.  They might give you a slight difference in your tone that you might like.  I've used them from time to time.

What distorter are you using?  I've tried quite a few different ones, and haven't been impressed with the majority out there.  Most are "one-trick ponies" with no real variety.  That's why I love the variety offered in the DigiTech DF-7.

If I were you, I would get a hybrid set (light top/ heavy bottom).  They should give you the chug you need for metal rhythm and the sustain and sound you would want for an Angus Young tone. GHS Boomers are great for rock too. http://www.daddario.com/DADProdDetail.aspx?CodaID=745&ID=1&Class=AAAA

The distortion I use is the MXR M-104 distortion+ it has a good sound, but its just the same thing over and over again. Those hybrid stings sound kinda interesting..

EB's are a good alt. to D'Ad's but I prefer D'Ad's.

EB's corrode on me somthing terrible, and in bass strings the G strings have a tendecncy to break if your a slapper.

Sound and feel wise they are pretty close EB's are slightly zingier, D'Ad's are warmer and last longer.

God wants spiritual fruit, not religous nuts!
