| I have a Fender Standard Telecaster with Selenium Cobalt Fender noiseless pickups in it. I am looking for a good set of strings to get the best tone out of it; but nothing over 10's. I want some twang to it when I use the bridge pickup, but not too much trebly twang, like I am getting with a regular set of strings I have on it now. When using the neck pickup, I would like to get a tone like this: http://chnm.gmu.edu/courses/magic/looker.mp4 What strings would you recommend for a good overall Tele tone? Thanks. John Adams |

| | Welcome to the forums! Are you wanting a tone that's just a bit more mellow (less twang)? I'm wondering if perhaps Regular Light Half Rounds (EHR310) might do the trick. Here are the product details: http://www.daddario.com/DADProducts.aspx?ID=1&CLASS=AACA What strings have you tried in your Tele so far?

| | I don't know what strings are on there now. I took the guitar to have the new noiseless pickups installed and they just put a regular set of strings on it. I would like a warmer sounding string so on the neck pickup it might sound more jazzier, and on the bridge pickup, it would not sound quite so twangy. But I don't want to lose the twanginess of the bridge pickup altogether, so it will still have its Tele sound. And I would want the strings to be loud enough to maximize the pickups, which I would think a set of 10's would do better than 9's on a Tele. |

| | Someone on the Telecaster.com web site forum suggested DR Pure Blues strings for a Tele. Do you have a set of strings similar to those? But I would rather err on the side of too bright, rather than two warm, when trying a new set of strings. |

| Try the Chromes or use the XL Nickels and let them break in/die down a bit.

| I had thought about recommending the Chromes, but worried that they might be too mellow. Anyway, since you'd like to err on the bright side for tone, definitely try out a pack of the Half Rounds. They're right in the middle of the bright-mellow scale, and should be the healthy balance you're looking for.
