| | The question part... How do you apply it? Does the bottle have its own dispenser or do you need a cloth to pour it on and wipe the strings with? The experience part, if you have used it how does it work for you? You stopped using it why have you ? I'm after first hand feedback here. Why I ask? I've been using GHS Fast Fret for years... and recently browsing Planet Waves website (checking for the Humdipak) I realised they have some string cleaners! So I thought maybe I should replace my fast fret with something else next time... but there's not much info on it online and it's not something on the shelf locally so I have to turn to online infos. Thanks for any help!

| I've always used the GHS Fast Fret, and probably will stick with it. The Planet Waves string cleaner has been very appealing to me, but I've never known whether or not it comes with an applicator or not. Please let me know if you find out.

| | I'm exactly in the same ballpark as I also been using the Fast Fret... intrigued and missing informations on that Planet Waves products. Hopefully we'll get a response on here. FTR The one Dunlop sells does have its own applicator built on the bottle.

| | i have been using a product called stringsol, unlike fastfret and other wonderwipe type things, stringsol works the best ,it is ez to use and very cheap,, i use to go through dozens of sets of strings every month, now im getting at least 3 months, mind you i break alot of strings so i like to change my giging guitars a little more offten, just put a little bit on the edge of your guitar cloth and wipe each string from bridge to nut, it is the best, and wont hurt the finish of your vintage guitar,i love it. i found it at a music store in toronto,if you want to try it let me know,i can send you some,.ive asked dadario if they are going to carry this product ,i know id buy it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,peace |

| | I used to be a Fast-Fret junkie. Now I only use it to squeeze a bit more life out of old strings (like, til next payday). Other than that, all I do is wipe them with a dry cloth after every performance - or at least most! They seem to play well for about 2 months for me. Well, they'd probably be OK for a bit longer, but I find I'm breaking strings at about the 2 month mark so I try to change them at least that often. I do realise that everyone's body chemistry is different - I know one guy that can virtually rot out a set of strings in an evening. SG
Hey - Where are we going? And why am I in this handbasket? |

| | String cleaner is all hype! Just like boiling strings is. When the string is maxxed out in stretchability, it goes dead. You could clean them with MEK and it wouldn't make a difference. If you have a high PH content in your body go with stainless strings. The downfall is that they eat your frets quicker. Stainless Flats are a good option, but you will lose brightness. Stay with a nickel roundwound. They are gentle on frets, and relatively less expensive. So you could change them more often.
