| | I was wondering if there are any standard or recommended string gauges for alternate tuning, like Eb or D tuning and drop D tuning as well, or if it's just preference and figured out by experimenting |

| | Hi! couple of days ago I have found this ˝string tension giude˝ on d´Addario´s web and it was more than useful for me to get the right tension for mine drop-C tuning and to determine the right gauge of each string for my guitar. you should check it out!!! it is very easy to calculate cause all the formulas are overthere. good luck!!!
Where and how can I get a custom gauge for mine tuning:
6C - 5G - 4c - 3f - 2a - 1d´
(59 - 42 - 30 - 19 - 13 - 11) ?????? |

| Is this the tension guide you're talking about?: http://www.daddario.com/Resources/JDCDAD/images/tension_chart.pdfAs for picking up custom sets, you'll need to buy bulk singles. Your D'Addario retailer can hook you up with singles of the specific gauges you require. I no longer purchase string sets, sticking with D'Addario bulk packs of singles to build my own custom sets.

| | Thanks alot for help, the tension guide is really useful and buying singles in bulk is a great idea. I never thought of doing that seeing as how im just recently getting into alternate tunings and different string gauges. Thanks! |
