| | Hi, newb here. Can anyone tell me when steel strings were first made/used for/on guitar... who by, and what sort of guitar(s) were they used on? I'd like to know all that, but just when steel strings were first made and/or used would be great. I've done an initial search with no success. I've looked for a D'Addario help e-mail address with no success. I've Googled with no success. HELP PLEASE!  Cal |

| I did some more searching for the history of guitar strings, with no luck. Perhaps you could contact a few string manufacturers, and could get some information? An article on the evolution of guitar strings would be really cool on the D'Addario website, if someone researched and wrote it up.
