| | Well since I had ventured into guitar land I could see that guitar strings aren't going to last nowhere near bass strings. I practice every other day for two hours. I just put on a fresh set of XL 115W's. They been on for three weeks and they are starting to show signs of wear. They sound okay still, but I now understand why guitar guys change strings once a month. I guess I better start buying the three packs of the XL115's without the wound G to save some$$. The ten packs for $34.00 is a bargain. The guitar world is a whole different ball game. But hey, I learned how to play the opening of Led Zep's Kashmir! Im starting to get the feel for the new instrument now and im actually doing solos and riffs, and they sound pretty good! I sound particularly good with my Boss CE-20 Chorus, in clean or dirty mode.

| | Are you using a bow on your guitar for an authentic Kashmir sound? Definitely pick up the ten-packs! D'Addario has a cool promo pack where they include an SOS Tuner or shot glass with their ten-packs of strings. It makes me feel left out, since they don't make promo packs for dulcimer string sets. If you're not using coated strings, definitely pick up some GHS Fast Fret! It makes playing feel much easier, plus it will lengthen the life of your guitar strings!

| | +1 on the Fast Fret....really great product. And definitely buy your D'Addarios in bulk (3 packs or 10 packs). It saves you money and you occasionally get a cool free gift. |

| | I bought a slim ovation acoustic electric and I thought I'd put new strings on it to make it sound even better. So yesterday I walked in the rain to the music store and bought a set of EJ16 for 10 bucks. I wanted the 80/20's because I've heard they are ok but they were 24 bucks a set. I could have bought 3 sets of EJ16's for 27 bucks but the 3 buck saving was an insult to my intelligence. Anyway I get home and carefully put the new strings on and tune them with a korg tuner. And they sound terrible compared to the unknown set that came with the guitar. When I lightly strum them they make a noticeable swishing sound like they are made of silk or something extremely soft and gentle. They don't sound like metal at all and they are very lame. So I have to either put the old strings back on or buy more strings of different types till I find some that sound right. The old strings were more brass colored than the EJ16's and maybe that is a clue? I bought the guitar at a second hand store so the strings were not from the factory I presume. The loud swishing sound of these new strings is creepy and distracting. |

| usually Elixir strings last a very long time. If you treat them right you can bout 3 months or more out of em.
