Im a Bassist.  Tryed guitar in the past and was too impatient and too stoned to learn.

I have lots of time on my hands now and it's been one of the goals in my life I wanted to achieve. Late is better than never!

Oh, now I understand!

It's unusual for a bassist not to play 6-string at all I'm sure you'll find it very useful support to your bass playing.

It was a good idea to buy new kit, it gives you a real incentive to learn having paid out all that dosh! How's it going so far?

Thanks for the encouragement folks!

Im gonna practice at least two hours a day.

Im still gonna keep my chops up on bass to, I felt I needed a different direction musically now. My guitar inspirations are John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, and Keith Richards.

I'll start off by learning blues riffs, then move up to Rock, then some Jazz.

HAHAHA i was just about to say you should learn some blues.

actualy, try to learn some rock first cause it's ridiculously easy. then drop to blues when you're fairly good. the tempos and grooves are tricky to handle if you just start out on it.

also it involves lots of improvisational soloing which you need to be extremely good at guitar to pull it off and have it sound good.but once you got that, its like breathing. it comes naturally. stir in a large helping of emotion, a strong deep voice, and some guitar theory. bake for 1 year and you'll be KILLER.
