I got some money and inmediately went to buy some cymbals ... I think it's a hard habit for all drummers to break, ha ha.

Well, I was looking for an 18" crash to pair with my 16" HH dark, but as there wasn't an 18" of the same model at my local store, I picked up an 18" HHX Evolution... man, this is a beautiful cymbal! It opens up so easily if you tap it lightly with your finger, and has a great attack when hit. I can´t wait to see how it behaves on rehearsal and live situations.

Tomorrow I'll be possibly getting an 18" HHX chinese and a 10" AAX splash (not available at the store today).

I just feel very excited when buying new cymbals, so I hope you don't think I'm bragging about it, I just wanted to share the joy.

Let me know your thoughts with respect to these cymbals, if you own or have played them.

Thanks for reading!

Congratulations on your new cymbal....

I Bought the same model about 5 months ago and love it as well, it really mixes well with my aax explosion crash and vault crash. It opens up like you said with ease , and projects for days.

I had a choice between the 17 and the 18 , the 18 just seemed to have the sweet sound...I had to have it.

Next I plan to buy an hhx 14" evolution mini chinese, another great sounding cymbal....well to me anyways.

Enjoy your new Copper

Hey Aktivguy, thanks for your comment, hope you get your mini-chinese soon, just post some comments on how it sounds when you get it.

I've just noticed something funny in my crash: it bears '18"/48 cm' instead of '18"/46 cm', which is the correct measure. I made some search on the web for pictures (Google Images, eBay, online stores) and found that several 18" Evolution crashes have '18"/48 cm' stamped on it. I think guys at Sabian make very fine cymbals but have to catch up with math Strange thing, isn't it?

I just checked mine, its says 48 centimeters as well, never really thought about it or noticed it.

Maybe it makes worth a little more on the Ebay market  ( I wish )

my friend has a hhx stage ride(21" i think) and it's very nice cymbal to play on - it's just very loud because it's a stage ride. but it plays very nicely with little effort. enjoi the cymbals. seems like you won the lottery! it's great getting a new cymbal(s)!

Just got the 18" HHX chinese today, it's very loud and agressive, and pretty dark! But I'm wondering why my 18" looks identical to the 20" pictured at the Sabian website. If you pay attention at the pictures you'll notice the 18" has more hammer marks than the 20", and an overall different look. I feel a bit confused: are the images at Sabian wrong or is my chinese wrong? Not that I complain about the sound, actually I tested the cymbal extensively before buying it, but I feel a bit uncomfortable because the issue with the images. I know this can be kind of silly, but just wanted to know your opinions: do you have this same chinese? does it look like the 18" or the 20" shown at sabian.com?

I'd appreciate your answers very much...

I wouldn't worry about it, its probably an older image that Sabian has not updated.  They probably just changed the production technique, I thought I read somewhere they had problems with this cymbal early in production.  (they would crack too easily or something)

Anyway dont stress, just enjoy your new sound

Hey thanks! I think I was exaggerating a little with this issue. As you say, possibly Sabian hasn't updated the pictures of some products. Besides, it seems logical that the 18" and the 20" have similar looks, as it's just the same cymbal but in two different sizes.

For a moment I thought the chinese I got was that loud because of "not enough hammering" ha ha, but now I suposse that's the way it's designed. It's really loud, but otherwise I love its dirty, trashy, oriental character.
