| | Ivan, i am a big fan of Ian Paice's drumming. He in my opinion rates right up there with Bonzo. Check out his drumming on Deep Purples BURN cd. Especially the tune Burn and Laydown staydown then let me know what you think. This is Ian simply burning!. |

| | Ivan: just TRY to tell me Neil Peart is your favorite drummer after listening to these two tunes. Burn is like Buddy Rich on acid and laydown staydown is IAN! on crack!. What Deep Purple recordings are you listening to?. |

| well i'm listening to 3 cds... bananas, rapture of the deep and a compilation cd of their best work...
i had a listen to burn and it's a good song and paice is a good drummer and compliments the song well but i must disappoint you because i wouldn't say he's the best. i've heard more complicated/faster/intricate drumming...

| | More complicated yes, that is the least of my reasons for digging that tune. Its taste, style, groove and feel that seperates Ian from so many of the mechanical, sterile, lack of feel virtuosos in abundance today. Like Buddy Rich, i can listen to him solo 24/7 and he can raise the hair on my head but there are guys today that are beyond Buddy technically that couldnt get me to cross the street for a listen. Know what i mean?. |

| i sort of know what you're saying but don't underestimate metal drummers either. not all of them are about denting heads and cracking cymbals. for instance matt greiner(august burns red) and blake richardson(between the buried and me).

| | Yeah, Blake Richardson is amazing. And if you like the really technical speed metal drumming, check out Flo Monier (I doubt I spelled that correctly) |

| Chris Adler (LoG) is about as fast as I can follow with my ears...rest of the band smokes too.
