The old light-weight Spur-lok hi-hat stands are very nice, but the Speed Kings totally suck.  They are slow, and noisy.  I've sold several on ebay, and I'm always surprised at the competitive bidding, and price that I achieve for a piece-0-sh!t pedal.

If Ludwig want to bring back vintage gear, they should start with the P-83 strainer, and flat-based cymbals stands.

I have a 60's Supra that I got new in 5th grade.  It is still my main snare for my gigs where I mic the snare drum.  On mine I have Ludwig die-cast hoops, and I swapped the crappy baseball bat tone control out for an early 60's small knob style.

If you want one, forget about ebay.  People got nuts for that drum.  Shop craigslist, or other sources.  Or else, you could get an Acrolite.  They don't tune as easy, but they sound pretty much the same.

I waved the Speedking flag for many a year and it was the pedal id used to intro Hot and nasty as well as Good times bad times. Today i use a superior pedal...the flexiglide. I NEVER thought id see the day that my speedking would get dethroned but ive never looked back. Hey, blue sparkle is THEE color for me Oly, you have exqusite taste!.

ive been wanting to try one just for the sake of knowing how all those guys played back in the day.

from what ive heard the newer ones are pretty different than the 'vintage' ones.

maybe if i ever get a cool ludwig set.

Here's a cool Ludwig kit mrtimekeeper and it's in blue sparkle Amrawco.

What's with the tom stand and the rubber grippers grabbing the tom rim instead of just setting the drum down inside them?

well it looks like a good kit.
i mean i was always into big kits.

but i figure until someone starts carrying my kit for me ill stick to my 18x14 bass.

and idk about that tom.

maybe it increases resonance or something.
