Ok, so I've really want to know if I can get some of the electronic pads that Carey uses on his kit. Right now i'm using cheap Yamaha's, while they work, they just don't look cool. Any help would be great.

they're called mandolins(i think or mandarins or something). they're really high tech though because they have something ridiculous like 14 "zones" and you'd at most be able to use it as a snare but i could be wrong. also they're quite pricy i think as well... he invented though or at least had the idea for them. go here: http://www.vdrums.com/forum/index.php
they'll help you much more than we will.

I know about the mondalla pads. Not what i'm looking for, the mondalla is based on the korg wave drum (kinda), whereas the purple guys are based on the simmons sd5. The only info i've ever heard or seen from them is Danny Carey's latest modern drummer article. And he doesn't say much about them. Oh, and the Mondalla has something stupid like 153 zones. Its fun to watch one be played.

ok, here's some more info on mandalas and if they're practical to use and stuff. found out that these pads also have their own brain which then makes it very expensive. like $1000!

and just check the vdrum forum! you probably didn't find anything because you got the name wrong!
