Filed reeds are usualy on the bright side and the unfiled on the dark side.

It's all about your taste ! I use filed because I'm in a Big Band and I'm the lead alto so I need a brighter sound.

Hi

I was wondering if a filed or unfiled rico jazz select reed would be best. I play bari sax, I use a Berg Larsen 100/0M mouthpiece on an older yamaha ybs62. Thanks.
