The DigiTech was the quietest, and the most gentle with its soft-knee compression. The MXR is hard-knee, and responds well to playing dynamics; but added lots of noise. The Boss seemed like a combination of the DigiTech and MXR; and was noisier than the DigiTech, but quieter than the MXR.

The DigiTech was my favorite of the three, and it uses dbx compression. I would like to compare this with the BBE unit, however...

RE: What's the Best Compressor / Sustainer Pedal?

i'm sure you want the pedal that makes you sound less like suck.

RE: What's the Best Compressor / Sustainer Pedal?

Any additional input on this thread? I think most pedalboards have a compressor of some sort on them...

RE: What's the Best Compressor / Sustainer Pedal?

I've been wanting to try out that BBE optical compressor. What's the advantage of an optical compressor? I read about them at one time, but have forgotten the details of them.

RE: What's the Best Compressor / Sustainer Pedal?

JEEZE! :pinch: You can't even go by the poll! I use it for my acoustic guitar rig which also includes the BBE Acoustimax which is awesome.

Gary Allen

RE: What's the Best Compressor / Sustainer Pedal?

How does the DigiTech Main Squeeze "squash" it? It does have a setting to really compress the signal, but it also has a sweet sustain setting. It does get a bit noisy when the sustain setting is cranked up, though. I might have to compare it heads-up to the Boss CS-3.

RE: What's the Best Compressor / Sustainer Pedal?

Hi Dulch! Iv'e used the Digi Squeeze, the Boss, and the MXR Super Comp. The Squeeze is just that, a squasher.

The MXR and Boss are pretty similar but I would go with the Boss. It's quieter and has a bit more versatility.

What's the Best Compressor / Sustainer Pedal?

Just wondering what the best compressor / sustainer pedal is, or at least the most popular. Of these, I've only used the DigiTech Main Squeeze and MXR DynaComp. Both were quite nice!
