For a bigger name, you might want to check out Vox amps, as those are legendary. The Vox AC30 or AC15 might give you exactly what you're looking for.

bedroom style valve amps...

I'm after one!!

At the minute I play through an older peavey transtube solid state amp but I would love to have a valve amp. I've had a quick look around and come across several amps that are ideal for what i'm after but if anyone has any other suggestions then i'm open. I don't know how to desrcibe what sort of amp I want but I quite like the following two. If I was to suggest two factors that play a role in choosing an amp is how loud it is and the price tag! Also I'm up for a challenge so if someone suggests a homebrew I'l check it out.

The two main ones that I've eyed up are

1) Orange Tiny Terror

This seems pretty nice and i've played through one but only with it just passed the clean area so I don't know what it sounds like a bit further up the "gain chain" if you like.

2) The Carvin Vintage 16

- All tube design - three 12AX7 preamp(Groove Tubes V1) tubes, two EL84 output Groove Tubes™ power tubes
- 1 Meg Passive tone controls for broad adjustment range.
- Front controls: VOLUME, SOAK, BASS, MID, TREBLE and REVERB
- Metal shaft controls, Ivory knobs, Red jewel lamp
- Strong Poplar plywood enclosure covered in thick TWEED
- Carvin VL12 speaker
- Output: 16 watts / 5 Watts, Pentode / Triode into 8ohms
- Single 8ohms speaker jack.
- CH EQ: 60, 650, & 11.5K Hz.
- Size: 16 inches wide x 8.5 inches deep x 17.75 inches high
- Weight: 31 lbs.
- 120V or 240V models
- Made in San Diego, California

I dont know if these are sold in the UK but this looks good. Never played through them or heard of them before earlier today when i was browsing so if anyone knows anything about them my ears are open.

thanks in advance guys :)
