yep, thats true. my point in my original comment was that Blackie was so closley associated with Clapton that it was an unfair comparison to an SG and George.

as a matter of fact what guitar do you guys picture George using when you close your eyes and picture him?? i usually think of the ric12-the casino-or the j160 depending on the song//o-o\\

(and this just may depend on how old you are also)

George did play a Tele later in the 60's. He did play a 61 strat in the let it be sessions. I think it was a blue one from memory. Also on Nowhere Man and Fixing a Hole.

George and Eric were best friends. Eric played guitar on some of George's songs. And don't forget that Eric was deeply in love with George's wife Patty (Layla) at one point.

Yes, Eric became famous using Strats, but he used to play a Les Paul Standard until it was stolen. He also played an SG with that wierd paint job. He played a ES335 with Cream. And I have seen him play various guitars. He like the sound of the Band from the album Big Pink. That is what got him into Strats.

George has also played various guitars, but mostly seen in public with Gretch or Ric.

George also came to the USA way before the Beatles and jammed with bands that played Carl Perkin tunes, etc.

So you would be right, George and Eric had different roots in music, but they did play well together.

was fine axe for sure,but could never remember him playen sg.........not that there is anything wrong with that ...........seen him with ric;s ,,,,other brands ......but cool one of them playen a gibson..................hell yeah.........i can go for that ,,,,and was that a hard tail on that sg?????lol,,,im luven it .......far as the price,,,,,,will thay take a old chevy van for trade?????????she has got alot of miles,,,,,,,,,but hauls the gear and axe's around real nice 20 costom 1994,,never left me anywhere....but that 350 4 barrle luvs the gas stions.Lol.....and as far as claptons axe,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ya nice price tag ,but hey differnt man,,even if it was a fender he was the god of his time,,,,,,,,let alone the music he made in how many bands?????????plus the 2 were no where the same in music......just my 2 cents,but hey bro dam good post saven that pic and keeping it for old time sake.......thanks chuck lp57

dont know how you could compare that to claptons blackie as im pretty sure harrison never used that sg to the extent clapton did his blackie. harrison tended to favor the gretchs, rics, epi's and a tele if im thinkin right//o-o\\

A curator places a Gibson SG guitar once owned by Beatles guitarist George Harrison on a stand at Christie's Auction House in London, 19 November, 2004. The guitar's price exceeded the high estimate of 500,000 dollars set by Cristie's auction house in New York, but was still far short of the guitar record set in June, when Eric Clapton's prized Stratocaster 'Blackie' sold for 959,500 dollars.
