Long may it continue!

PS: No, I don't remember the 40's & 50's! I grew up in the 60s and the 70s were really my era :D

RE: blast from the past 70s 60s

Do you remember the Chevy Vega?

I think that was more a piece of $#!+ than the Comet. I didn't see too many Ford Comets however, I had one friend who recieved one for his first car in 1983-84. I did used to see a lot of Mercury Mavericks. {Same car as the Comet} .

I watched that movie Duel from 1971 the other night, it starred Dennis Weaver and it had to do with a madman Big Rig driver taunting him. His car was a red Plymouth Valiant probably with a straight or slant six. Back then they were considered junk too but when looking at it now it was actually a nice little car.

It's a shame though through the whole movie he ran the car on cheap *** Ethyl. :pinch:

RE: blast from the past 70s 60s

First, I was born right after Nixon resigned, so I didn't really "grow up" with this music. My dad listened to country music, so in the '70s I grew up with Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, etc.

I've generally enjoyed rock from about 1964 to 1972, so I would have to say that '60s rock is my favorite. However, I've been liking '70s music a bit more in recent years. If punk can be classified as rock, then I would definitely like '70s rock the best. :)

Awesome discussion question!

As a teenager, I almost bought a 1976 Plymouth Arrow that was souped up to be a drag car. They had crammed a bored-out 383 big block under the hood. LOL. I have pictures of it somewhere...

RE: blast from the past 70s 60s

The band I'm in does a bit of 50s and lotsa 60s and 70s. I gotta say the 70s is where its at for me. Even the late 70s. While disco was busy sucking, some good rock was still being made.

I have a friend whose band does late 70s/early 80s rock almost exclusively and I really enjoy hearing them. They even throw in a few rocked-up disco tunes that don't offend me! (don't tell anyone, though :hehe:). A lot of that music has the "Oh, WOW" quality for me - you know, "oh wow - I remember that one!" Songs you don't hear on the radio any more. Its much like the 1976 Ford Comet - when I was in high school, there were a million of those things on the road. Everybody had one, and they were almost universally pieces of ****. There's one in my town now, lovingly restored by a car buff and driven only on nice days. Now, when I see it go by I don't think, "what a piece of ****" - I think, "Wow! What a sharp looking old car!"

SG

RE: blast from the past 70s 60s

60's, 70's, and some 80's.

Overall I'd say the 70's.

blast from the past 70s 60s

just trying to see how many of ya listen to the old stuff ,and your thoughts of those best years in our time,,,,60 .s or 70,s you know those old tunes we never forget ,,growing up to ,or just that time of years ....lp57
