I was wondering if anyone here ever attended Recording Engineering classes at The Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, Ohio. I attended the 5 week course in July/August of 1986. I found it to be a great experience with alot of hands-on training. If you happened to attend the classes there post the month(s) and year you attended.

few months ago had a 7 in reel to reel given to me .....tryed to figure out troubles with this tape player ,let alone finding tapes for it ..had the guys in the band mess with it few days ago..seems need to put it in the shop ,any how any one out there know of web sites for repairs,,,any help will get me started ,,,,was my father inlaws ,akai 625..........lp57

Lame Musicians

I moved to Eastern NC and I played with a band and these jokers were so lame it was embarrassing but they are all lame here. I hate when bands play it safe ALL the time. I know the people here are conservative but I think even they would like something different once in a while. I'd rather flip burgers than play with lame musicians.

My wife and I are stuck here for a while and I think I am going to retire for a while and work on chops and theory. Also as a bass player I was treated like an after thought even though I was the best musician in the band. I guess I am not used to mediocrity and the Confederate swastika.

What also sucks is there are a lot of brothas where I live but you never see any Black bands. You don't see any of them in the clubs here either. I'm thinking that maybe there are some brothas here that have some feel and musicianship. I was thinking of starting a band called Jim and the Crowes. :w00t:

Denny Doherty of the Mamas and Papas dead at 66

TORONTO (Reuters) - Denny Doherty, a member of the 1960s folk-rock group, the Mamas and the Papas, which was known for such hits as "California Dreamin'" and "Monday, Monday", has died at age 66.

His sister, Frances Arnold, said the singer-songwriter died on Friday in Mississauga, Ontario, just west of Toronto, after a short illness, Canadian Press reported.

Doherty was the only Canadian in the Mamas and the Papas along with Americans John Phillips, the group's chief songwriter, Phillips' wife Michelle, and singer Cass Elliot.

In 1998, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Doherty was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1996.

Doherty, born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, co-founded a folk group called the Colonials in Montreal in 1960 and later drifted into the New York folk scene, where he met Elliot. He joined her in a band, the Mugwumps, along with another Canadian, Zal Yanovsky, later of the Luvin' Spoonful.

Doherty, Elliot and John and Michelle Philips formed the Mamas and the Papas in 1965 after signing a recording contract with Dunhill Records. Between 1965 and 1968 they were a big part of a California pop scene that included such bands as the Byrds and the Beach Boys.

In 1966 "California Dreamin'" became the first of a succession of hits that included "Monday, Monday", "Go Where You Wanna Go", and "Dedicated to the One I Love" that were characterized by soaring harmonies with Dohertry signing tenor.

The band sold an estimated 20 million albums but relationships among its members was undermined by jealousy and drug use.

Doherty co-wrote the songs "I Saw Her Again Last Night" and "Got a Feelin'".

The Mamas and the Papas disbanded in 1968 following John and Michelle Phillips' divorce. The group reformed briefly in 1971.

Doherty made a solo album in 1974, and in the 1990s he had a major role in the children's TV series "Theodore Tugboat", in which he voiced all the characters and played the Harbourmaster.

The 30-year-old Elliot suffered a fatal heart attack in 1974. John Phillips died in 2001 at 65.

Michelle Phillips is now the only surviving member of the band.

hey want to know if anyone has played bc rich axe;s .just got one at new music place i go .traded my old fender tube amp i had ,any hey has hum bucker;s on it looks like battle axe from kiss .nice axe ...light,slim fast neck ,,got balls :w00t:and grow like a gibson:w00t:;):hehe: ..any hey ,,know i;m gibson man but deal i got ,plus more then what i had in that old amp ....could not beat this deal i got ,plus cash back,,, an axe ,new 30 ft cord ,,,,,,set of strings ,,,,,,did good ,,,,took me 3 hours of dealing with this guy .plus he had that amp cranked up all the way seeing just what kind of balls this old fender had ,,,,,,,tell you what he was smilen ,,,,ever test he put that old amp threw ,she pasted ,,,,2 axe;s he played threw that amp .wall;s were shaken ........any hey bc rich ,nice axe .plays well ....not sure how old it is ,but ,,,,hell new toy for me ..........any imput would help ...please ,no flame war;s :hehe:on this post ......chuck .....lp57

The red Douglas doesn't look too bad. You don't really need the switches to get the Macca sound just solo the neck pup which is what he did anyway. The Douglas is like an Epiphone Viola copy for $145.00 how bad could it be?

Global Warming

Mine would have to be the Late Great Dimebag Darrel from Pantera! I actually had the chance to Party with Him,Man he was just as awesome to sit and chat with as he was to hear play. Unfortunately he was taken by a Jealous Crybaby with a Gun! Another one would have to be Kirk Hammet, and definately Randy Rhoads and Zakk Wylde!

I have noticed that there seems to me some more new members joining lately. Please let me say welcome, and I hope you continue to participate. Maybe we can get this place back on track and discuss D'Addario products, Planet Wave products, and guitars and gear. That is what this forum is and should be all about.

A few years back this was a great place to come and many friiendships have been made through here. Unfortunately due to things beyond everyones control the forum ws down for an extended period of time. Many former members moved on, and the number of new members dropped off severly for a number of different reasons.

I actively kept people updated while the forum was down, an have tried to solicit new members through other forums I belong to. Perhaps if everyone who is in another forum and sees a D'Addario or Evans discussion can point out that we (D'Addario) in fact do have a forum, and get things active in here again. There are some very multi talented members, who have vast amount of information to share.

Lets not lose sight of the definition of a "discussion forum"

An electronic forum for like-minded non professional and professionals to exchange ideas, post questions, offer answers, offer help on relevant subjects.

So hopefully you will kick back, put your feet up and stay a while.

our lead player pulled this thing out last night when we were going over some new tunes we are learning...the sastain this thing does on the neck of the axe is way freaking cool;) ...any how me being old school player never seen this thingy befor .but on those southern rock tunes ,it fits so well on those long notes .:cool:let alone brings out the lead licks ,,,,yet still not over powering .....lp57

I was talking with my friend from St. Louis, and somehow we started talking about the state of Delaware. She mentioned how Delaware isn't really mentioned all that much in daily conversation, and that she used to joke with another friend that perhaps Delaware doesn't exist - that it's akin to the lost city of Atlantis or something.

Anyway, I know that some of you happen to live in the great state of Delaware, and I know that it's a beautiful state. Is there something cool that Delaware is famous for, or is there a Delaware shirt or something cool that I could give my friend? I have to get her to stop making fun of Delaware. ;)

i did another unpluged show with bud of mine sunday for lady at the vfw in newark ...diane ,,,she has stage 4 lung cancer .any how was good time ,had one of her buds get his hair all cut off to help her with losen her hair ,shaved his beard as well....plus they had all kinds of raffles ,50 50 ...well befor all said and done ..over 7 thousand bucks they got from the day .........was priceless moment.......alot of tears were there ,but most of all good buds who helped out there true buds ....played alot of good old tunes .....and man was not a dry eye in the house .....my wife was there as well..the same day we had a walk for ovarian cancer at the river front here in wilmington .....was 3 miles ,me the mrs did half of it ....was a nice day as well .little windy but nice ...any how would like to share it with ya all....and let ya know ...love is out there for sure ..keep the faith ...be strong ........god bless any of you out there who has been threw this with anyone .....lp57 ps... ovarian cancer ,it wispers....so lisen.........

have little extra cash from puppys we sold this year ...going to get my 74 lp worked on ..needs frett work .wondering if she will finger like befor ,better ,or will it be like new axe ......yeah she has been laying in her old banged up case for some time now .since i got my sg few years ago never play her to much .so getting a new case for her ,frett job ...adjustments on neck ,pick ups,, ect .........then i;ll play her little more i think .hate to see her not played .best axe i ever had .any hey need some input on how your axe plays after frett job ....

fact of the matter is ,the way i feel about people is the way i feel .never have i called out the n word on this forum .thanks to mr //////// ,he thinks he can make me feel low life i guess by posting my email to him ,let alone change everything around about the vfw i am a member at ...plus he seems to think he will make me stop posting here because all he has done .so to the rest of you out there ,i;m sorry for bringing this to this place where it should not be ....far as mr ///// in what he did ,guess he feels like better man,,,by posting what i wrote to him in a email . because i do not like some people for my reasons which are my own .. but to stoop that low to make all of you think i;m some crazy redneck out there who hates others because of the skin ....so freaking wrong ...but hey this is what some people do best i guess,not sure .i have blocked mr from my emails ,and see i could of said alot of things about him as well.but will not do that ,better man then that .so all said and done .sorry for all this drama,with mr and i ...guess he can still put me down any way he can ,but guess what .i;m still standing ,,,,dam shame tho ......so will not stoop no more to the childish games that some play ....lp57 ps this will be last nail you drive in me ....
