The results are amazing. I originally bought this cymbal back in like 98 or so and repeated cleanings had warn the ink off.

I decided to spend the 20 bones, and have it done . Im glad I did, it looks just as new as the day I brought it home 10 years ago. As far as sound it hasn't changed at all, well not to my ears anyway. The HH logo is different , now just HH not Hand Hammered.

Anyone else have this done by the Sabian factory??

Below are some snapshots for all you to check out

My HH RBDR Newly Buffed and Inked

Close up of new Ink

This is a before shot, notice the warn label, The model ink is totally gone.

You cant really tell from the picture but there were lots of "stick pings" ....alll gone now

I'm looking for a professional microphone set, what would you recommend?

Hi fellow drummers, I'm looking for a professional microphone set (bd, snare, toms and overheads), the money isn't an issue, so what mics would you recommend? I've seen Phil Rudd using individual mics for his cymbals, but does that offer a considerable advantage over traditional overheads? (I'm not on a budget, however I guess buying one mic per cymbal would be VERY expensive)

Also I'd like to know suggestions concerning a good but small mixer (easy to carry), I want to be able to set my sound exactly as I like it and then send the stereo mix to the main mixer or directly to the PA speakers, I think 10-12 channels would be ok.

Thanks!

remo forum

geez the guys at the remo forum are so mean!! maybe cuz my name was evansrocks, but dont worry i just wanted to see wat they talk about there. really boring stuff. theere real mean guys to most of the time just cuz i like evans haha figures

Performing w/ Loops Live

The band I'm playing in is beginning to experiment with adding loops to our live mix. Right now we create the loops in GarageBand and then export them to an iPod and use that to trigger each loop. The problem is that it takes way too much effort to change anything during rehearsal (ie tempo or arrangement). GarageBand works good at changing things, but since you can't have more than one file open at a time it takes way too long to switch between songs for live performances.

Is there a piece of software that does everything we need it to - create loops, arrange loops, and play them in a manner conducive to live performance? It won't be a problem at all to have a computer on stage with us to do everything.

A question about the edge of an HHX Chinese, what would you say?

Hi fellow drummers, I have a question about an 18" HHX chinese that I got a few days ago, with hopes that those of you who have experience with china type cymbals can provide some answers:

As you know, this chinese is fairly thin, but despite that I'm unsure if it's normal for the edge to bend so easily (by just applying light pressure with the fingers, for example). It feels almost like cardboard. What do you think? Is it normal for HHX chineses to be so flexible? Could it be the cause for a future crack? I don't have any experience with china type cymbals as it is my first. Another thing I noticed is that the edge is not even: there is a portion (about 5 cm long) that is lifted a few milimeters in comparison with the rest of the edge, is this an enough reason to ask for a replacement? I don't know to what extent could this affect the sound, as I don't have another identical chinese to compare with, however I can't say I'm not pleased with the sound.

I'd appreciate your answers and thoughts very much, thanks!

Yeah

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230246837985&indexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting

Modified

I modified my hat pedal to be right next to my DW 5000 double pedal. For awhlie i even thought tht maybe its the birch im not digging, maybe its the bearing edges etc etc. Once the right sizes are in front of me the frustration subsides, YOU?.

What do you think of this kit

I just wanted to get your opinion of this kit:

KIT -Year 2000 DW Collectors Series in Natural Satin Oil w/ chrome hardware

18x22" kick (with Mays/AKG D-112 mic mounted inside)

8x8" (concert tom - top head only)

8x10" mounted tom (with Mays/Sennheiser e604 mounted inside)

9x12" mounted tom (with Mays/Sennheiser e604 mounted inside)

11x14" mounted tom (with Mays/Sennheiser e604 mounted inside)

13x16" mounted tom (with Mays/AKG D-112 mounted inside)

All Mays mics mounted with non-drill kits.

SNARE DRUMS

6.5x14" 10+6 maple Natural Satin Oil

5x12 10+6 Maple Soprano Snare (N.S.O.)

5x14 Aluminum shell snare Knurled aluminum finish - 2007 model

DW 5002 Turbo double pedal

All DW 9000 series hardware / stands

CYMBALS

Primary Hi-hats - 13" Zildjian K Hybrids

Auxillary Hi-Hats - 13" Zildjian Special K/Z hi- hats

10" Zildjian K Splash

12" Zildjian K Custom Dark Splash

14" Zildjian A-CIE Constantinople Crash

16" Zildjian A-CIE Constantinople Crash

18" Zildjian K Custom Dark Crash

20" Zildjian K Constantinople Medium Ride (first series - signed)

20" Zildjian K Custom Dry Ride

2 16" Wuhan Lion Chinas

24" Treeworks Chimes

Other various LP latin percussion blocks and accessories

All this goes in:

an SKB Roto X padded bass drum case

2 Cymbal bags

2 Custom ATA rolling flight cases

Ludwig Classic Maple

Help I'm looking for a picture of the Ludwig's blue shadow finish that they offer on the classic Maple kits. Ludwig Acrolite Snare Drum, which needs an entire snare system, among other things.
- What kind of snare strainer would work well with it? I was thinking about just getting a Ludwig P85, which it would have come with from the factory.

- What are the best type of snare wires/strand for this drum?

- Which is better: nylon cords holding the snare, or finding some new plastic strips to hold it?

- Also, what are the best kind of heads for this drum?

I'm trying to keep the total price for fixing this under $100. My kit is already birch, so the sound I get just from contacting the head is rediculous. Even if I just give the floor tom a heavy tap with my hand, it sounds like I'm playing on concrete with my sticks.

Are there any better resonant heads to mellow out the sound, or do I just need to play without them?

GC....WTF??

SO i finally found out what head i wanna get on my 26" bassdrum, the superkick II, and i found a new one on ebay for a decent price, but i figured instead of paying the shipping why dont i first call around to the music shops to see about getting one that way.

well 26" heads are a pain to find, and nobody stocked them. the last place i called was Guitar Center. the kid on the phone said all they stock is the Remo Ps3, which is like 40 bucks. I told him i wanted the aquarian and he said he could special order it.

Guess how much they want for a special ordered 26" head???? $85.00 !!!!!!

how the hell do they justify that? I mean a place like that is constantly getting orders shipped in from instrument builders, so why couldnt they just add the bass head to the order list and have it thrown on the truck? I work in the automotive field and if a part is not in stock at the dealer, we will order it and it gets put on the next shipment of parts from the warehouses. we doen mark up the price at all!!

I wonder if anybody actually goes through with these outrageous deals with those people. i mean, you can leave the store, log onto the internet and order something like this for a significantly less price then they can.
Sonor designer kit...(free)

Psyche!. I've had problems with the muffling ring holder falling off on the regular EMAD, but I've never cracked or even dented one of those heads. About six months ago however, I got an EMAD2 and within two months, I had cracked the first ply right where the beater hits the head. So I got a more durable patch, and everything was fine for about three months. Then today, a huge 9" crack developed in the first ply, rendering the drumhead almost unplayable.

I am going to order a new drumhead soon, and I would like something more open than the EMAD, so I was looking at the G2. Now I'm wondering if I should go with a G1 though. I'm afraid I'll crack the first ply of a G2 again, however I'm also afraid that I'll crack through a G1. I've never cracked a singly ply bass-drum head before though, and I played very heavily on a Ambassador 22" for my marching band without any problems. So I was wondering if anyone has thoughts on the durability of a G2 versus a G1 bass-drum head.
