Its not the peoples I know, its the ones I don't know. That and most of the "audience" isn't there for the music, they're there for the beer. Oh, and by the way, I hate where the city that I live in.

How? The "peoples" I know who play drums understand the distinction between tallent and gear.

kirk, you're right on the peoples come to see you perform, but if you've got bad gear, peoples can mistake that for bad playing.

Just as your playing should say something about your musical ability.

I guarantee you ~90% of the folks in the audience care not one iota about your "taste" in gear. They came to hear you and your band. Keep that in mind!

I didnt know Sabian did this. Drummers sometimes feel about their choice of gear as the average Joe feels about their favorite football team. I kinda like the fact that im playing Paiste signature stuff logos and all because it says that nothing else is GOOD enough for me. It sorta tells other drummers that hey, i drive a Fiat, you drive your Honda. Im the guy that likes the S.S. super sport emblem on the back trunk of a 66 Chevelle, logos kinda say something about the owners taste.

The logos are useful if you plan to sell your cymbals later (an idea that doesn't appeal to me at all, I just LOVE my cymbals).

I once thought of erasing all the logos on all my cymbals, but as I don't have anything in particular against logos, I just dropped the idea. Besides, it doesn't feel bad at all when someone approaches you and says "wow, you have an XYZ doom-dark-flat crash" :D. It's the perfect opportunity to start bragging until someone kindly asks you to SHUT UP!... ha ha, hasn't happened to me, but I've seen a lot of drummers who have mouths bigger than their cymbal sets.

Honestly, I enjoy seeing the logos on the cymbals' surface: the contrast of black against the silvery/gold tone is nice.

I just would like that the Sabian logo didn't cover almost the half of the cymbal!

I love logos and I hate a faded looking logo. Given the fact that Sabian was nearby and it was inexpensive to do, I might have done the same thing. Congrats!

I too intentionally clean off the logo's on my cymbals with acetone (save my Paiste's because I don't want to remove the coating.) Your cymbal certainly looks nice, but I'll never understand why some people care so much about logo's.

That's a lovely ride indeed. But you gotta be pretty vain to care about intact logos (and even what kind of logos they are). Nothing personal. I'm just saying....

Me? I intentionally wiped off all my logos years ago. Not to hide their identity (they're all Sabian AA but who cares?) but to make the new ones and the old ones all look the same. And it didn't cost me $20 either!

Now if you're going to gigs hoping that someone will notice the logos on your cymbals you might have a problem! If that's the case, I hope you're also wearing a black Sabian t-shirt too. If you're gonna shill, you should dress the part.

Funny I never remember seeing any logos on Ringo's cymbals, or Bonzo's, or Keith's, or Mitch's, or Ginger's...

I think cymbals sound better as they age, it's a shame the label ink fades too quickly sometimes (maybe it depends on the batch of ink used).

Now your ride looks like new, but with the advantage of being "mature". There are a lot of analogies in everyday life: wine gets better as it ages, women get better as they age... mmm ha ha.

Personally I prefer the older "Hand Hammered" logo instead of the new "HH" logo, but it's a matter of taste.

I'll love to hear your ride in 20 or 30 years, for then it'll be a collection item!

Hey Forumn lurkers

Recently I sent my HH RBDR back to the sabian factory (only a half hour away)for a rebuff and relabel. The results are amazing. I originally bought this cymbal back in like 98 or so and repeated cleanings had warn the ink off.

I decided to spend the 20 bones, and have it done . Im glad I did, it looks just as new as the day I brought it home 10 years ago. As far as sound it hasn't changed at all, well not to my ears anyway. The HH logo is different , now just HH not Hand Hammered.

Anyone else have this done by the Sabian factory??
