Has anyone heard of this guitar? Was it made by the banjo company?

| Harry, I printed a copy of this. I will consult my good friend Cris. He has a huge collection of books regarding all vintage guitars. It is a good bet that it was made by Vega Banjos though. It has a very similar look, espicially with the hardware. I will let you know if I find anything out!

| Harry, I reviewed several books and planned on bringing one with me to quote from it but I forgot it. Vega guitars were made by the Banjo Company. They were based out of MA. They started around 1890 building banjos and did not start building guitars until around 1900. The guitars they first built were parlor sized flattops. In the late 30's they started building Archtop guitars. Many of the bodies that were used were actually made by Stella, and a few were also made by Harmony. The photo in the book I have is very similar to the one you have posted here. The one in my book has one pickup, and has chickenhead knobs. The book does not give much info on how to date them, but if you were to examine the pots we can probably get a date from the numbers on the pots. If you forward me that info I will be able to get a date for you! Dave

| Dave, All I have is the picture. You have answered my question. I was toying with the idea of buying it. But have decided to save for a 335 style instead. Thanks, H
