For the life of me, I can't find a way to edit my profile.

Can't find a "help" button.

Can't find diddly squat.

CPThrasher,

Are you using a program that blocks Java Script? The Control Panel requires Java Script in order to function!

If the Control Panel is not showing, it is possible that you may need to adjust your browser settings to allow Java Script.

The Control Panel is located at top right corner of the page, as seen in the "screen shot below", taken today.

Have any specific instructions for adjusting my Internet Explorer browser, Atomic?

PS That's a swell avatar you got there.  Is that someone you actually know personally?

Since you are using Microsoft's Internet Explorer Browser, Follow my instructions and study the screenshots below:

(1) Left Click on "Tools" on your browser's toolbar. (Located between Favorites and Help) (As seen in ScreenShot Example 1) A drop box will appear.

(2) From the list on the drop box, choose and left click on "Internet Options" A small Window (Dialog Box) will then appear.

(3) Next, Left Click on the tab in the Dialog Box that says "Security" at the top of the box; The Security options will appear. (As seen in Screenshot Example 2)

(4) Next, Left Click on the button located at the bottom of box which says "Custom Level" the "Security Settings" options will appear. In this box you will see a list of check box options. Use the drag bar and find "Scripting" underneath you will see three check boxes (or in this case circles). (See Screenshot Example 3)

The first check box will say "Active Scripting", the second will say "Allow Paste operations via Script" and the third will say "Scripting of Java applets"

(5) Make sure that all three of these boxes are checked "Enable" As Seen in the screenshot I provided"

(6) Next, Left Click on the "OK" button and on the box behind it.

If this is the reason you cannot find your Control Panel, the solution I laid out will correct your problem. If it doesn't work, then something is going on, like a missing systems file. That's another story. Try this first, it is the most likely reason you are not seeing the Control Panel.

ALSO: If you are using an antiquated version of the Internet Explorer Browser, It will not support Java Script.

Example 2

Example 3

Thanks so much, Atomic, for your very thoughtful and very user friendly directions

Unfortunately, the problem appears to be a missing system file/files.   I followed your instructions to the letter, even re-started my CPU and triple checked the Security settings.

I vaguely remember some kind of Microsoft warning about Java, some weeks or months ago. I’ll contact them to see if they can help.

First off, Thanks Atomic!!  I appreciate you trying to help CPThrasher!!!

CP - I got your PM, and apologize for not responding yet.  Atomic has got it covered.  Sorry for the frustration, but it does appear something is up!  Checking with Microsoft might help.

If you want to edit anything let me know and I can do it for you in the meantime.  I can't add an avatar for you, but other info i can edit for you.  Let me know.  thanks.

Matt

Thanks Matt.

CPThrasher,

You may already know this but just in case you don't, here is Microsoft's Support Center for the Internet Explorer.

Here are some addtional results.

If your browser is the problem, another option is to, download and install the latest version of Internet Explorer 6.0, just in-case you are using an out of date version, or you can always try downloading and installing a different browser like Mozilla Firefox or Netscape 8 Beta.

Thanks Matt and Atomic!

I will be reinstalling Internet Explorer just as soon as I can take the time away from my work.

You should be gratified to know that Dell/Microsoft has recommended the exact same troubleshooting scenarios as you have.

Take care Bros

Sincerely, CP

PS Atomic -- You still haven't answered my most important question . . . Wait . . . "Atomic" is not necessarily a masculine name . . . Hmmm . . . Naw, couldn’t be . . .
