I just started playing guitar a few years ago, and i want to move up to a bigger amp setup.

I got an old 50 watt bassman head, and i'm looking for a cabinet.

my buddy said i could have this music man cabinet with a 15 in it, but wouldn't that be better for a bass?

i've never seen anybody play a guitar through a 15

A Marshall cab with four 12" Celestions comes to mind. There are different Celestions, so try a few out.

And remember, Jim Marshall based his first amp on a Fender Bassman.

I'll bet when the first Bassmans were made folks had no idea what they would do for a guitar.  Those things rock!

I don't know if I've ever seen anybody play guitar through a 15 before, either.  I use a pair of 12", and I would think that you would want at least 10".  That being said, however, the best advice is to try it.  If you can get the sound you want from a 15, to hell with what everyone else is doing!

just my $0.02

Twelve or tens, marshall or fender. But it's what you like so try different set ups.

Don't discount a guitar through a 15... I heard a jazz player once with an amzingly warm and smooth tone... who had a 1-15 bottom with a Mesa head.

Note also, most pedal steel players use a 15.

It's all about what you are going for.
