That guy on newbury street needs a new act for sure. I see him all the time, and hear him even more. I saw him moonlighting over on lansdowne street a few times too, once out in front of the victor hugo bookstore, I saw him fight a bum for a milk crate.

I drum circle a lot, and think it's a very worthwhile experience.  Certainly not all are great, but the good ones are like being in a great band on a hot night.  It's blissful.
 
You'll also meet a lot of nice people, including very experienced players who will hip you to all kinds of cool stuff.
 
Around here folks use a Yahoo group to communicate, so if you're with them, or know someone who is, you can start your own group.  Once established, anyone can hook up to it.
 
Go for it.  And don't let the straights bring you down.  Most of them have no clue what they're missing.
