You (or I) can't use the "Recent, Active or Popular" topics links without the other forums budding in, i.e guitar, woodwind, bowed and so on. Can I filter them out?

True, but at least they are all separated by category, so its just a case of scrolling down a bit.

At least the woodwind and bowed posts auto-filter themselves out
