| | When I was younger, talk of Global warming didn't really have to much meaning. But now with the drastic climactic changes going on, and the polar ice caps melting at an alarming rate, it has suddenly hit home. Anyone elses thoughts about this, and do you think it can be stopped or have we reached a point of no return with the Earths eco-system?

| It was discussed a little bit when I was in school. Although out in the eastern USA it's been unseasonably warm, the western USA has been quite cold. The long-term trends are what to look at, which seem to show a gradual warming. I don't think that the earth is irreversably damaged, though.

| | I agree with you, Dulcimerist. The earth is 4.5 BILLION years old. I think for us to base this global warming theory on a time period of only 30 years is plain rediculous. The long term trends are key, and if they are examined, they show alternating periods of warming and cooling. Heck, in the 70's there was great panic because the earth was too cool! Winters were longer, and politicians and scientist feared global suffering and starvation due to the shortened farming season. The idea proposed at the time (by the world's top scientists) was to MELT THE POLAR ICE CAPS TO WARM THE EARTH!!! I really feel that this is such a political and propoganda driven issue, that neither the left or the right is correct. We may be having an impact on our environment, but what that impact is, no one can positively know. |

| | i have studied global warming exstensively in biology and it has been scientifically proven that the climate is actually getting colder, and that the ice caps arent actually melting. global warming has been proved a myth. the secular, liberal media just tells you what they want you to hear, which is usually the opposite of whats really going on. when is America going to wake up and really see the truth, and stop believing all these lies they're shoving down our throats? |

| | The earth has a way of regenerating and cleansing itself. Everything we use ultimately comes from the earth so in reality how could the earth damage itself? My view will differ from others because I am a Christian so as of now I believe the last times are beginning and drastic weather changes and patterns are all a part of it.
