Welcome all!

Peter will be logging in shortly (right around 9PM EST), and will try to get to as many of your questions as possible in a hour's time or so.

We have set this forum as a moderated one, meaning the threads need to be approved prior to posting.  The concern is not with the content, but in the event that we have large group and do not want to flood the board or overload Peter.  We'll release threads as quickly as possible and may remove this feature should it not be necessary.

This is the first time we've ever done this at DrumTalk, so we'll all figure it out together!  Please be patient...

Thanks guys!  I'm really happy that Peter took time out to do this, and hope you all enjoy sharing cyberspace with one of the greatest drummers of our time.

The forum is now open, so feel free to start your threads with questions!

Matt

Hello Matt and everyone! Greetings from California ... just got home after a terrific day at the DW factory in Oxnard (I live in Santa Monica); the new "Jazz Series" drums are great. Evans G1 and J1 heads are great, too!

Hi Peter...it's Mike.

As I'm sure our forum members are interested to know...and since we're on the subject...would you mind telling us about your switch to DW?  And have you been having fun checking out a new sound?

Hey Mike, you might need to start a thread/"topic" so Peter can see your question and reply accordingly...

Hey Poop,

How you been?  Anyway, I'm not sure it would matter.  This chat is off to a rough start...

re: WHY DID I SWITCH TO DW?

Believe it or not, the 6000 series flush-base cymbal stands were the start of the whole thing ... played on them in Sweden on a rental kit, and was amazed at how much better my cymbals seemed to sound. I enjoyed playing them more.

And when I finally took a tuning key to a DW kit and tuned them up ... with EVANS HEADS on them ... I fell in love with the sound.

I've never gotten more compliments on my drum sound than now.
I've never felt so enthusiastic about a drum as I do now.
They are a beautiful instrument. The company is terrific, and they are committed to making the best jazz drumset they can ... the new Jazz Series ~ well, I'm grinning from ear to ear just thinking about playing on those drums. That's a nice feeling to have ... reminds me of when I was a kid.

Maybe it was a drumming mid~life crisis ... but I like to think that I found my true instrument after all of these years...

"Poop"?  You mean "poopypants" (Andy)?  He hasn't been around here for a while...

Actually, once Matt lifted the moderation filter, this thing took off...ever so gently...like that Wright Brothers contraption.  We are airborne!
