I'm new to the whole guitar thing and have purchased my first set of d'addario strings  for my acoustic which sound great but i was just wondering why choose d'addario? What's so good about d'addario strings? why do you choose d'addario?

Thanks replies would be appreciated and any more reccomendations for strings would help to!

Tom,

I have been using and playing D'Addario strings for well over 40+ years on my electric and acoustic guitars. I can honestly say that in all the years I have used their string the quality from pack to pack is unrivaled by anyone else in the industry. I can change a set of strings and know that night after night when I play that I will have the same tone, and feel from every pack that I use. The longevity of the strings is another factor, they just plain outlast the competition.

I've been using D'Addario for many years on my dulcimers, and also appreciate the reliability and longevity of the strings that they make.  I've actually never experienced a single "dud" of a D'Addario string immediately breaking on me.  I've had a couple of Ernie Ball strings flake out on me like that, though.

Exciting string products such as D'Addario "Flat Tops" and "Chromes" keep me loyal to the brand, as does their excellent customer service.  I also enjoy collecting those Players Points from the packaging to pick up the cool D'Addario premiums.  I should check their website to see what's available at the moment for Players Points!

I have been playing for almost 40 years. Way back in the day I tried almost every string available. About 20 years ago I settled on D'Addario strings for my electrics exclusively.

Why? Because I knew what I was getting with each pack I opened. The sound was great, they lasted a long time and to be quite honest they were competitively priced as well. It was the total package for me.

I don't go through strings breaking early, the tone of my guitars are consistant, they don't rust out after 2 gigs and hours of practice and they are just smooth to my fingers.

What more can you ask for?

Give em a try and see for yourself. I use the XL's 9's on all my electrics. I am about to put a set of EXP's on my new Taylor. It came with Elixirs. I have never tried D'Addario acoustic strings but if they are anything like their electrics I'm a happy camper.

Good luck!

D'Addario's are probably the most consistent strings on the market. Iv'e been playing 10yrs and had one bad set in those 10.

If I can't get D'Addario's I will pick a set of DR's. Remember though, DR's are handmade and subject to human error. D'Addario's are computer controlled and less subject to human error. I will admit in 10 yrs I have only gotten one bad set of each. I used DR's when I was in the mood for stainless strings, I play bass. When D'Ad came out with the ProSteels however, I was blown away. They are tight, bright, and punchy. Not as Zingy as DR's which I like.  I Try to get D'Addario's whenever I can. Love Them ProSteels!

i've used D'Addario strings for 8 years, both on my acoustics and my electrics. ive never used anything but D'Addario and i never will use anything else. ive never had a D'Addario string break on me, or not stay in tune. i love D'Addario because i know what im getting and that i can expect the same great quality, sound, and longevity as always. my friends that use other brands complain about having to change their strings every month blah blah blah, and i tell them that my D'Addario can last 4 months or more. this is why i use D'Addario strings (EXL120's and EJ15's/EXP16's)

1) Consistent quality: I've never had a bum string in a single pack of D'Addarios.

2) Affordable and accessible: you can get them at practically every music store on the planet for about as much as a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

3) They make sets for virtually every need out there: Half step sets, a myriad of light top/heavy bottom sets. Stainless steel, flatwound, half rounds and now pure nickel (which I'm thrilled about). You name the situation, they've got a set that will satisfy it.

4) The EXP series is the best of it's kind. At first I thought that D'Addario was just saying they were coated when they really weren't as a cruel joke/scam, but they really do last longer and I like that the coating is virtually unnoticable. I used to kill 80/20 sets faster than it took to get a pizza delivered, but the 80/20 EXP set I have on my Gibson acoustic has been on there almost three months now, and probably has several more months of life left.

5) They just plain sound and feel good! Seriously, the first time I put a set of D'Addarios on my Strat nearly 20 years ago it was very clear to this electric guitar novice that these were quality. They just sounded and felt right.

6) The environmental angle: While I'm not a big tree hugger, I appreciate the lengths D'Addarios goes to be ecological responsible. And the corrosion resistant bag they use to package their strings is a great idea anyway....I've found sets of D'Addarios in my old road cases in my parents garage that had to have been three or four years old. Strings in normal packaging probably would've shown some sort of discoloration, if not outright rust, but they were as fresh as if they had just been put in the shop display.

The only brand that last with me... I tried everything for 2yrs when I started playing and now it's been 15yrs using only D'addario. I will try once in a whiel another brand when I get a free set but if I have to spend my money on strings it's always d'addario.

Another reason to pick them over others... the recycling program... no other company has such a system in place but they should! Hard to belive that oen followed up now that people are finally starting to take action to help teh environment.
