Does anyone else remember when saving your player points meant that you would be rewarded with some really cool gear?

They used to offer heavy duty sweatshirts, Swiss Army Watches, many different styles of "cool" shirts and hats, great travel bags, coolers, binoculers and even electric guitars (Zion).

Now, every time I check what's available they only have 1 or 2 shirts, maybe 1 hat, keychains and layanrds (woo-hoo). I don't even know why I save them anymore.

I use a lot (and I mean a lot) of strings and I save these points (sometimes for years) in the hopes that D'Addario will offer some cool gear again. Yet, it seems the longer I wait, the fewer products they offer.

Has anyone else been disappointed by this? If not, who wants about 1000 points?

Welcome to the forums!

That stool that they're offering is pretty cool, actually.  I also like that gigbag, if that's still available.

I love collecting Players Points!  There are some cool things rotating in and out of the program, and I'm saving up for a couple of them.  If you don't want your points, please send them to me.

Thanks for your opinion.  We're actually bringing in some new designs, heavier-duty tees, and new ideas shortly.  Let us know what you have in mind...

Please understand that this program costs us thousands upon thousands of dollars each year.  We are the only company in the in the industry that offers such a rewards program, and the cost of doing so is certainly the reason for that.  We are committed to providing such a program to our loyal customers, and plan on offering better items in the future.

As always, I appreciate your suggestions on merchandise that could possibly be available through Player's Points.  I doubt we will ever have a Zion guitar again, but some of the others may be options.  Thanks.

Matt

A mic case with padded mic drops would be pretty sweet, actually.  Room for our PW mic cables and mic accessories such as a mic preamp and shockmounts would make this quite useful.

Some sort of pedalboard would also be awesome, or at least some sort of protective case in which to store our stompboxes in separate compartments would be cool.

Thanks for offering this fun promotion!

Always like the program... and I think it's a must to encourage any company that does help the environment  even more so when both party can get something out of it!

So with that spirit in mind I'll post some ideas of mine to share;

  • Gigbag with compartments for pedals yeah I like Dulcimerist's idea!
  • Gym Bag/that could double for a Gigbag... I mean we can plug the D'addario name at other places besides a gig can't we
  • Laptop bag
  • Zippered Binders You know similar to the 'Four Stars' binders with an handle on the side. Great for the students and to carry papers and stuff to lessons for teachers(guitar teachers or school teachers)
  • Set of 12 d'addario pens something like the Bic Click Stick maybe a mixed pack with some Sharpies pen(find me a musician who doesn't use one...)
  • 'Sport' Water bottle... good for the gym, the gig, the bike, work... I think you had them in the past.
  • Car coffee mug (do keep up the regular mug also)

I went trough a lot of the D'addario tshirts over the years... anyone else remember the Cow tshirt with Cows listening to headphones I also still have 3 coffee mugs in 2 different models. I never had enough point for the stool(probably spend my points too fast on tshirts haha).

I'm always looking up what you guys have available and I did notice that you were in the process or refreshing the stuff out as the variety of item thinned out a bit. Curious to see what you'll come up with.

Thanks for the reply. I am very pleased that you are receptive to ideas.

You have offered many great bags in the past. If you ever saw me boarding a plane, you would see that most of my bags came from players points. People love bags.

Mostly, I miss the variety of tee shirts and hats. You use to have really cool shirts (I do remember the cow wearing headphones...how about the frog on the headstock or "See **** Rock"?). What ever happen to these designs, are they just retired? Also, there use to be a nice heavy sweatshirt available. I mainly like to get things that I can give away to friends and customers anymore (free advertising)!

I realize that these offers are expensive and you should require a proportional amount of points to get nicer items. I am also surprised that other companies have not done similar rewards programs. I repair guitars for a living and have probably used about 10,000 packs of D'Addario strings over the last 15 years. I started using them partially because of the rewards program (also because they kick ***)! So, the program does pay off.

Thanks again for the reply and offer to entertain suggestions. Just knowing that there is interest on your end in improving the program is gratifying.

I remember that tshirt I saved for it but they took it off by the time I had teh points for it. In fact I had stickers of that design on a guitar case.. . wich I ripped the storage compartment off and transformed it in a keyboard case for my younger bro many years ago... he still has that case wich is about 17yrs old now. He recently moved and I had fun watching all those stickers I used to put on that case lol

About starting to using D'addario strings... my decision to switch to them was pretty teh much teh same as you... they do sound and feel great but they're also teh only one rewarding their customer plus they are doing it encouraging environemently conscious behaviours wich is remarquable from any company.

I sent of a bunch of points many months ago (from UK), but no response yet - is this normal?  Unfortunately I didn't keep proof of the PP coupons I sent so I guess if they don't send me the goods there's nothing I can do about it!
