Chuck if you do see the guitar or if Micki does look to see if it has Made in USA below the serail number, and look for a label through one of the F holes just see what color and shape it is.

Note the master volume knob on the lower front cutaway in addition to the 2 volume 2 tone knobs where they regularly are.  The 60's models didn't have the "volute"  that hump on the back of the neck where it meets the headstock. The body is 3" thick front to back.

Here is a 1969 ES 150 D in walnut finish

Here is are some pictures of a 1974

Note the V shaped volute where the neck meets the headstock, this was added starting in 1970 you won't see this on your father in laws if his is a 60s era one:

Note Made in USA as well after 1970

Chuck first about your Father in Laws guitar I have dealt wth selling my Moms belongings for a rest home you can buy it for $1.00  as long as you put the money into his bank account or the nursing home and there isn't a thing the Medicare/Medicaid can do about it.  If it is already in a will and it goes to Micki they can't touch it and he has the right to give it to her now if he chooses.

The Les Paul is a 1969, I'm going to hang onto it for a while.

Plays nice, although I like the 50's neck better. This has the 60s slim neck profile, weighs about 9 pounds, it has the original PAF sticker pickups in it. It has a nice fat sound to it, its all mahogany there are no maple caps on the customs, that's why most guys don't like them.
