| I'm involved in a gig where I have to have 1 guitar tuned to Eflat. I also Drop D the Sixth string . I use my Les Paul GT for this tuning (it comes with a dual truss rod), but even with the help of an "authorised" gibson guitar tech I can't get any tension into the strings.I've tried heavier guage strings like the Beefy Slinky from Ernie Ball they are 11-54 and the Daddario's 11-52 guage and they still have this loose no tension feel , impossible to get any real bite out of the string and BuZZ galore Does anyone out there have a solution to my problem or better yet know of a set of strings made to tune in Eflat |

| Have you tried a medium gauge? I think those generally start with a .012, which might help you. If not, there are heavy gauge strings around that start with a .013.

| | i can relate to your situation. my band has a couple of acoustic songs in the key of Eb, so i down tune my guitar a half step (Eb G# C# F# Bb Eb) and i play in open E. and the strings i use are D'Addario EJ15's. when im not playing with my band i just tune it back up a half step to E and i have no problems and no buzz whatsoever. hope this helps! |
