| | Thanks for the response. I have used your strings for years now, and love the 120+ (even make up 12 string sets for my Ric 360 12). However, my problem now is the broken strings are left wherever they break. Our guitar roadie takes the guitar and changes the string. So unfortunately I don't have a string to send you. My latest batch does not have this problem. It only happened on the .024 (D) guage string. Even the high E goes dead before breakage. This is one of the reasons I chose Dadarrio. I can show you exactly where they break, because it is inj the exact same place every time. Don't take it offensively, but they were the last strings I tried. I use to use Fender on Fender, Gibson on Gibson. Then I tried a bunch of brands from cheap generic to expensive. 9 was too small and 10 didn't have the action I liked. Then I was given a set of 120+ from a friend (being as I go from 6 to 12 string, I tend to press more), and they were perfect, not to mention, they never broke. You wouldn't think that 1/2 guage makes a difference, but it really does.

| Administrator (9/7/2007) Tempests,
The reason we ask for the strings back is that we do take breakage very seriously. When we receive these strings and the package containing the Q-Code, we take more of these stringsfrom yourbatch out of stockquality control tests these strings in our facility. That means playing, tension till breakage and plucking tests. This is the only way that we can truly get to the bottom of the string breakage. (where is happens, at what tension, etc.)
We never try to blame the guitars. We do however, inform players about what other causes beyond the string themselves may cause breakage. This is merely to try to find the root of the problem so that this will not keep occurring.I want you to know that we do stand by our product. When you send us the string, we send you a replacement for that string and a free set for the trouble. Please send us the strings and I can guarantee that we will look into this problem.
I am planning to try a set of D'Addario's on my acoustic next string change. It is nice to see that a company listens to their customers and take their problems so seriously. It instills a lot of confidence in their customers and future customers. |

Have you got any unopened packs of strings from that batch? Where exactly did each string break?

| | I will look for wrappers and packs. I know I don't have broken strings. Th string always broke exactly at the bend at the saddle. The inner wire breaks and the outer wire stay connected. Since i bought this new box of sets, it has not done it at all.

| | UpDATE: As of tonight 2 G strings broke on 2 different guitars, while playing. I managed to save 1 string. the life of the strings were about 4 hours, since stringing. Where do I send this string as I now have several incomplete sets that need to have G string (024) replacements. I listened to your techs and have now spent a fortune have the guitars checked out, knowing in advance it was not the guitars. But as always, a manufacturer always likes to point the blame somewhere else first. I guess if I don't get some sarisfaction, I'll have to move on to a better quality string. I don't know what else to do at this point.

| If they won't compensate or help you go with GHS Boomers, they won't break. They have to be the toughest strings on the market. They are stiffer however so if you go with them go down a guage to compesate for the extra stiffness.

| | I finally got to talk to someone and we are going to run a test. It is possible I got a bad run, because all the string sets are from the same store. hopefully, we can figure out why the D is breaking. I love the 120+ guage set. They are perfect for my playing and the funny thing is I never have breakage, not even the B or E. Hopefully this is an isolated incident.

| | I hope that it's isolated as well. Has that retailer had any customers buy the same sets, having the same problem? I'm glad that you got in touch with someone from D'Addario to help run some tests! Hopefully everything will be straightended out for you soon!
