| when is the Zepp. live DVD supposed to come out, do they have any plans? i saw two clips on youtube and jason seems to be doing great, although the sound quality is crap (i think its a cellphone camera).
anyway, i was trying to figure out if hes using ludwig vistalites on that gig. he was a big DW endorser for a while, but recently i saw an ad in modern drummer with him promoting vistalite sets. did he leave DW? i guess to continue your fathers legacy ludwigs are way cooler with that retro feel, and they are getting better as a company i think, offering more products (i saw something about a vintage style shell that they offer now with reinforcement rings?)
been a while since ive been on this board, figured id check back in |

| | yeah i just came across some photos that showed closer views of the kit. the thing that threw me off was the black lugs. didnt know ludwig offered that...but i guess when your last name is BONHAM, you get what you want. looks like the same config. as John used? 26" bass i'd imagine? has anybody noticed a difference in pedal to head feel on a larger bassdrum? i used a gretsch 14x24" for a long time, and single foot triplets and stuff like that were a breeze(think "good times bad times" bassdrum part) that was just with a standard coated powerstroke head and a black reso on the front with a 6-7" hole. i think i had a felt strip on the batter head, too. but now i use a 22x16 (its an old rockstar pro kit which is maple/basswood i think) http://www.tama.com/history/history_detail.asp?i=111 in my tama kit and no matter how i adjust the head tension or footpedal, it seems like i cant do the same footwork as i could on that 24". i am using an aquarian superkick I with a black remo reso that has a 4" hole in it. my pedals i use are a tama iron cobra, an old gretsch floating action, and a late 80's yamaha pedal. maybe im just outta practice, who knows. i havent been playing in a band for about a year now, but for sure it feels like i want that gretsch set back!! |

Who cares about the drums. More importantly...he should have been using Paiste 2oo2s and/or Giant Beats like his dad!

I was just being a wise guy.
But, I must admit...I care more about what cymbals a drummer uses than what drum brand he's playing. It just so happens that 2oo2s and Giant Beats are some of my favorite cymbal lines. Since Jason is endorsing Ludwigs now, (have you seen the "Drums Remain the Same" Ludwig ad?) it would have been especiallly more authentic sounding if the Paiste's were there along with the Ludwigs for the reunion show.

[/quote]"Wise Guy" eh...no problem. I've been a Zildjian user just like Ludwigs since the early 70's. At times I thought about purchasing a few Paiste's but almost wouldn't know where to begin. Several of my Cymbals are +30 years old like my 15" Hats from 1975! Back then we didn't have the endless choice/selection when picking a Cymblal, kind of made things easy. *the ride is a mid 70's hand hammered Sonor...whooo what a great sound!
