| | I'm thinking about picking up a wah pedal, and the Morley Power Wah Volume caught my eye. It can be used either as a wah or as a volume pedal, which seems neat. Is anyone familiar with this pedal? Is it decent? Do these pedals have some sort of switch where it activates as soon as you put your foot on it or something? http://www.morleypedals.com/dpwov.html Any advice would be super helpful!

| Had one of those in the past... didn't like the sweep of it and the fact that you had to switch it on or off on the side. BUt depending on how you use these effect it might not be an issue.Worked for me as I was only using it for a volume or a "set wah" not really going thru the sweep. I the Bad Horsie wah wich is switchless much to my liking! I had both together back then(with another Morley and more pedals). Simply evolved into other things and now only use the Bad Horsie along with an Eq pedal... nothing like the pedalboard and rack madness I was in before.

| | Thanks for the info! Only the Bad Horsey is switchless? I was hoping that the Power Wah Volume was as well, since I hate heel and toe switches on most wah pedals. The switch on the side sounds like it might appeal to me. How does it work? The switch on the side simply toggles between the wah and volume functions, or is there also an "off" position to have neither one active? I don't want a very "biting" wah. Is it possible to set this so that the wah is only in the lower frequencies? At the moment I'm borrowing a Vox wah, and am only sweeping it up halfway.

| | There's the Bad Horsie 2 that is also switchless(main difference is added knob controls) and the Mark Tremonti wah. Never tried the Bad Horsie 2 or teh Tremonti wah both we're not out when I bought my Bad Horsie... I got it whn they first came out. Funny story I tried it and within 10sec of being plugged in I said SOLD! The switchless thing was just so natural to me it was a no brainer. The switch is on the side yeah. You are right it switches between Volume and Wah mode... the thing is that wherever the pedal is at when you switch that's where it will be in the other mode as well when you switch. So if you have it half way in wah mode and switch to volume the volume is set half way if you want volume full when you switch you have to remember to leave the wah fully on before switching back to volume.

That's what I was afraid of, and would've annoyed me to no end! When engaging and disengaging a manual wah pedal, I prefer it to be in the bottom-end position. With this pedal, that would result in a muted setting for its volume mode. That's lame. I had been pondering this pedal, as Musician's Friend has it for $80; plus it comes with a free Morley A/B/Y switch after rebate: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Morley-Power-Wah-Volume-Pedal?sku=150788 Perhaps that's not such a good deal, afterall...

| Hey, that is still a pretty good deal.
I was going to buy the Morley PDW pedal but after contemplating the side switch I let it go. I went after a bad horsie but was since given a crybaby 535q at a great price so that will do for now. you should try george dennis pedals perhaps? I used to have the Wah/Volume and it had a deeper tone then others, not so shrill at the top. I liked it but it disappeared in a house move and I cant find it which is severely annoying. But I would recommend them. optical controlled and built well.
Hope it helps, thanks for the help in the other posts.

| | What all is that Dennis pedal like? I've never heard of those. A music shop recommended the Crybaby 535q to me, and it appears to fit what I'm looking for. I wonder if anyplace runs a decent deal on those.
