| Does anyone know who else D'addario makes private label strings for besides John Pearse Strings?

| | Welcome to the forums! That's an interesting question, and I couldn't find it in their FAQ: http://www.daddario.com/DADFaq.aspx Perhaps emailing D'Addario would yield some answers. If you find out, be sure to post what you find out!

| I suspect that they wouldn't want to make it public! Most manufactures like the public to think of them as only one brand, even though they might in reality be supplying strings that are packaged under a number of different brands.

| | I've heard some manufacturers names batted around making strings for other companies on contract, but I've never heard D'Addario being mentioned as one of them. I think S.I.T. does a fair bit of private label work....the one company I've heard they make strings for is Rickenbacker. Either Black Diamond or Gibson (I think it was Black Diamond...) provided strings to Ernie Ball when he was getting his string operation up and running. Ernie Ball wasn't known for manufacturing strings early on but mostly for introducing the idea of the custom gauge set....something that actually didn't exist back in the early days of rock. I've also heard that there is some weird manufacturing relationship involving Fender strings, Martin strings and DR strings...but I can't recall the details. |
