Hi fellow drummers, I have a question about an 18" HHX chinese that I got a few days ago, with hopes that those of you who have experience with china type cymbals can provide some answers:

As you know, this chinese is fairly thin, but despite that I'm unsure if it's normal for the edge to bend so easily (by just applying light pressure with the fingers, for example). It feels almost like cardboard. What do you think? Is it normal for HHX chineses to be so flexible? Could it be the cause for a future crack? I don't have any experience with china type cymbals as it is my first. Another thing I noticed is that the edge is not even: there is a portion (about 5 cm long) that is lifted a few milimeters in comparison with the rest of the edge, is this an enough reason to ask for a replacement? I don't know to what extent could this affect the sound, as I don't have another identical chinese to compare with, however I can't say I'm not pleased with the sound.

I'd appreciate your answers and thoughts very much, thanks!

My other drumset is a Stenway.

i think that would be a good reason to maybe not get replaced (i don't know how bad it is) but it might definitely be worth getting checked out. i'd definitely go back to the shop you got it from and ask them about it.
good luck.
