| | The crappier the cymbal you start with, the more awesome the sound you finish with. But then again, i'm a bit nuts. |

| Check Jon Theodore (ex-Mars Volta)'s stack at the right of his kit. According to wikipedia: A "stack of totally busted stuff on a cymbal stand." On the stand are two hi-hats cymbals with holes drilled through them, a splash cymbal with a cracked bell, a Zildjian ZXT Trashformer and various, smaller shredded cymbals with metal washers.
Very interesting.
My other drumset is a Steinway. |

Very interesting.Theodore always had some pretty dirty and trashy sounding stuff, and i've always agreed with the broken cymbals put together sound good theory. |

| i just bought the traditional western style wuhan cymbals and boy! am i impressed. i bought a 16" medium crash (which should actually be titled as a thin) and a 10" splash. together they give such a nice trashy sound with quite a bit of sustain which i like - i hate that chinas have pretty much no sustain. but i have to say the 16" crash on its own is actually very good! not just very good for the price but in general very good. and not that trashy as wuhans usually are but very clean and pure sounding, very bright as well! i'm thinking of buying an 18" now as well. i'm really impressed! and they only cost me about $64 (i'm not sure what the exchange rate is at the moment though, but you guys live in america where everything is half price anyway excluding those big discounts from musician's friends etc.). anyway i'm very pleased. so next time you're at your local music store, try out some wuhans...

| oh btw, the 10" splash is good for it's price but not that good as the crash. and i heard the S ride, sounded good, lots of wash and quite sounding. not my sound at all so i didn't bother checking out the rides. i'm not looking for one anyway. so i personally would only go for the crashes...
