| Well since Paul taught John how to tune his guitar. But that does not mean anything. John wrote some good music and so did Paul. I go with George!

| Wouldn't it be the one that could play their way around the track and to the finish line first? SG

| Technically probably Paul, but skill means nothing if you've not got creativity to back it up. Not that Paul didn't, but I'd say John probably had the edge there. Not too controversial I hope? Anyway, I'd go with Ringo...

| I have to agree with you Ant, Paul seemed to have more virtuosity but John was more imaginative. I tend to favor Paul probably because he played bass but I can't discredit John in anyway. My Favorite was Billy Shears however.

| Faced with a choice b/w Lennon or McCartney, I'd take Keith Richards with a side of Pete Townshend.

| It's funny you say that. Keith is one of my favorite guitarists. I know some guitar players discredit him as a credible guitarist but the guy has been playing for 40yrs. now. The Stones early to mid 70's stuff is where Keith shines. Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Goats Head Soup, Exile on Main St. , It's Only Rock and Roll, Black and Blue, Some Girls, were all Predominatly Keith Richards Doing. It was after his 1977 heroin bust in Canada that he gave up being full leader of the group and settled for just being in charge of the band. Which in my eyes still makes him leader, Mick now runs the promo's and does the PR stuff.
