| Uh, mister admin man, I think the word you're looking for is spelled "farce" -- with a "c" not an "s". We don't need to worry about it being censored. Whew! Close one. But please, do work on getting the software fixed so we can all freely refer to the green garnish. I mean, it's just not the Evans forum that we all know and love if it won't let us call our favorite garnish by its right name. "The garnish that dare not speak its name." |

About time the truth about Walmart was revealed. I watched the Fourtune program you referenced, facinating! Walmart is not a company, it is run like a religious cult. The chanting, the team meetings, the quest for money and control. I used to work for a packaging company that supplied a company, that supplied the mart. Walmart told us if our upc codes failed to scan, then we were fined 10k and all our product from that particular lot would be rejected. Second lot failure, find another place to sell your goods. As a supplier for a supplier the pressures were horrible and the profit margins thin. Make it cheaper, nicer, and it has to be smaller, and hold more material. I ran a tactical analysis meeting on the previous statement. We projected a minimum of 25% failure rate of our packing materials, and was told we had to do it anyway. At least I had the balls to say on the record that the laws of physics can not be changed just because you say so. China, why not, $100 dollars per month for semi-skilled work. More profit in the end. No environmental controls to speak of. I hope the merge between Sears and Kmart is allowed, at least Walmart will be looking over its shoulder. I would market made in USA as a counter to Walmarts made in China. Potential union activity in Walmart would be devestating to the operation. I think in time the mart will suffer some sort of economic backlash. |

| The Sears-KMart merger was approved today. Although competition is generally good, there is not enough of it. They'll behave like most oligopolistic jagernauts do, and collude on pricing. Two mega-huge retailers will still exploit and plunder the people. Unions need to harass both of them. Cities and States need to demand that they include bennies. The Fed's need to impose tariffs on the cheap goods. And, the international community needs to demand that the Chinese don't polute and destroy the environment! Chinese labor should be provided the same protections as any labor force. Those costs will make Chinese goods less cheap.

| Yeah bil...good post!! I taped it and watched it. I've been trying to tell people for years about Wal-Mart being an economic predator. They looked at me like I was from Mars. The Lamestream media won't report it because Wal-Mart is a heavy advertiser and they don't want to lose the account so naturally people are in the dark. PBS is the only network that reports on their activities. Bill Moyers has also been very active in the last year exposing Wal-Mart for what they are. It wouldn't surprise me if Wal-Mart gives PBS 'grants' to shut them up. CNBC did a two hour piece on Wal-Mart last week. It was more balanced than PBS but they did go for the jugular a few times. Every time an item from China is purchased, the Bush family gets a little richer. Prescott Bush Jr. who is the prezzes uncle has had a little deal going for years. The America-China Chamber of Commere which arranges for American factories to be shuttered and shipped to China. The Bush family is making millions while throwing Americans out of work. They are nothing more than traitors. KIssinger is involved too. That why Dumya wants to keep the o.P.I.C program running stong. Yeah....Bubba is right...Nixon started it and Kissinger and Prescott Bush was involved. The Bushes hate middle and poor Americans. They like to use them for cannon fodder and destroy their jobs for profits. Some of you may remember a topic I started a few weeks before the site went down. I reported that I will be losing my job to China. My last day is Dec 17th and I can't say much until then because people are getting fired for speaking out and thus will lose any programs to assist them when the shut-down is complete. I was interviewd on a local TV station yesterday and I was very careful what I said. I had a lot to say but couldn't say it. After the plant is closed I will sing like a canary. Our company is 125 years old with a well know national name. All I'll say is we make furniture and many of you may own some. Today at lunch time,we watched shipping containers being loaded with top grade cherry which is going to China. Disgusting.. People think they won't be negatively affected by the one sided Free-Trade deals. But they will without relizing it. When their taxes go through the roof because the local factory shut down they may then realize it. Also, they are paying for Wal-Mart's emplyee's heathcare. When Wal-Mart hires an employee, they train them how to get Health Care on the backs of the taxpayers. |
