| Surprised it didn't happen already, actually.
So, what heads should i use to get it to sound good? I have a coated pinstripe on top with a hydro on the snare side for some crack, and i'm just not happy with the sound i'm getting. Will new snares help, or should i change my sticks? Or maybe i am just tuning it wrong. Any suggestions?
And before you make fun of me for my choices, keep in mind i have placed in the past 3 wfd contests, and i need the clarity to display my travis-barker-like chops. Otherwise my feel is just lost in the weedwacker din.
Thanks in advance, i have a recording session with miles davis, jerry garcia and john fogerty this afternoon, and i want to get everything worked out before i leave so i don't have to waste time in the session getting it to sound good.
BTW, i'm having some issues playing in swing. Any quick tips? I just got off the fone with john lowson and he says i need to swing. Should i worry about stage fright? Do i need to bring my own protection or is this customarily provided by the producer? Never mind, i forgot an acrolite is the safest form of birth control. |

| I just keep using the head I broke a year ago. I stuck duct-tape on it every now and then so I can still play it, and it sounds great.

| In spite of my general distrust and dislike of Ludwig products due to the total crap they were putting out for the past ten or more years, I gotta say, they are making a huge comeback. The last four brand new Ludwig kits that have come through the shop are really well built, and the attention to detail that has been missing for so long is readily apparent in these new kits. Also, the last nine or ten Ludwig snare drums that we've carried are built superbly and finished impeccably. If they reissued the Acrolite in the original matte aluminum finish with the olive and blue badge, I'd pick one up for sure, and that's saying a lot! |
