Hey there,

Looking to sell my Pearl kit, but need some input as to how much a realistic price I should expect.

Its a 7 piece Pearl Masters Custom kit with 8", 10", 12", 14" and 16" toms, and 22x16" kick and 14" custom brass Sensitone Snare.

In Vintage Cherry red - I originally purchased it for $5500 - Australian dollars that is.

I'd include all the corresponding Pearl double braced hardware.

Very Good condition with new Evans skins.

Any ideas/estimations to how much I should ask for?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

what year?

what model...mrx, mmx, mhx, brx.

how about a pic of the set?

actually, not sure you're gonna get much response for a pearl set of any kind around here.

but you never know...good luck.

You won't be happy, but my guess would be about $1000 USD, maybe $1500 depending on condition and if you find the right buyer.

I had a set of Masterworks (the read deal) for sale for ever on ebay. Everyone kept trying to beat me down becasue Pearl has dropped their prices on the line so much in the last three years. I finally found a buyer. The fact was, I WAS asking almost as much for my used set, as Pearl now was for a brand new set..

You might find that you'll get a lot less than you would like because it's a 7 piece kit. Not sure if this is sound reasoning, but I think if someone was going to buy a Masters Custom kit they would probably be fairly specific about what they wanted (eg., I would only want the kick, the 12,14,16 toms, the snare and the hardware. As such the other 2 toms wouldn't add much value to me so I would be inclined to want to pay less.

On the other hand, some people might want a 7 piece kit I guess... have a look at www.tradingpost.com.au to see what you're up against in terms of pricing then price a bit lower (most stuff there doesn't sell)

I think you're spot on. I would sell in the most desirable configuration and then sell the others as separate add ons. You will most likely maximize your profits. I did this with a Slingerland Studio King kit once. It worked out much better that way.
