D’Addario violin strings are made to deliver fluid playability and beautiful sound to any violin. From beginner offerings like Ascenté and Prelude to premium options like Helicore and Zyex, D’Addario Orchestral has violin strings for every player.
"Kaplan Amo has been my favorite set of strings for years. I love that they do not need much time to stretch and could be a last-minute save. They provide a combination of beautiful tone, brightness and depth — all the essential qualities I look for in my concert strings."
"I choose Kaplan Amo violin strings because they provide a warm, rich tone, with good response time and are also durable enough to last."
"When D'Addario Kaplan Vivo came out, we exulted. Everything was there. Intensity combined with finesse and emotion — and what emotion. An immense success!"
"Helicore strings provide a rich tone, last a long time, break in quickly, yield a quick response, and bring all my violins to life in a consistent fashion."
The strings on a violin are E, A, D, and G, in order from highest to lowest.
The violin has four strings.
Most violin strings fall into one of three categories: gut, synthetic, and steel. The oldest known type of violin string is “gut,” which literally refers to the small intestines of sheep or cows. Nowadays, it’s much more common for strings to be made from steel or a synthetic (often nylon) blend of fibers.
