About Jonathan Barber

Jonathan Barber is an international recording artist, composer, educator, and bandleader. Voted #1 Up-and-Coming Drummer by Modern Drummer in 2018, he’s toured and recorded with artists including Pat Metheny, Terence Blanchard, Christian McBride, Nicholas Payton, Erykah Badu, and more. He leads the genre-blending group Jonathan Barber & Vision Ahead, with whom he has released five albums: Vision Ahead (2018), Legacy Holder (2020), Live at Jazz Standard (2020), Poetic (2022), and In Motion (2024). The band has toured nationally and internationally, performing at top jazz festivals and venues worldwide. Barber is also an active clinician, a featured PASIC artist, and currently serves as Jazz Drum Professor at the University of Connecticut. He proudly endorses EVANS Drumheads and ProMark Drumsticks.
