About Samuel Rothstein

Sam Rothstein serves as Assistant Principal and Bass Clarinetist of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, where he also held the role of Acting Principal Clarinet from 2021–2025. An active orchestral performer, he’s appeared as a guest musician with ensembles including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and Minnesota Orchestra. In addition to being a highly in-demand stage musician, Rothstein serves on the faculty of Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, and presents masterclasses across the country. He is also the creator and host of the popular Candid Clarinetist podcast, which has reached thousands of listeners worldwide.
