About David Cook

David Cook is a clarinetist, educator, and author based in Illinois. An Associate Professor of Clarinet and Chair of Instrumental Performance Studies at Millikin University and the Principal Clarinet of the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra, he also performs with both the Appian Duo and Greyline Duo and has been widely acclaimed for his “brilliant and stunning” performances and “terrific virtuosic playing.” David has also appeared as a featured artist at ClarinetFest®, the Midwest Clinic, the American Single Reed Summit, and numerous national conferences and festivals throughout the United States.

In addition to his performance career, David is the author of Clarinet Conditioning: Warm-Ups and Perspectives and the founder of Academic Musician Career Consulting, a coaching service for musicians pursuing careers in higher education. He previously performed with ensembles including the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra. David holds degrees from Central Michigan University, the University of Michigan, and the University of Oklahoma, and is a Buffet Crampon USA artist.
