Naomi Sullivan

Naomi Sullivan expanded her musical capabilities during her studies at Chetham's School of Music with Jim Muirhead, Royal College of Music with Kyle Horch, and Northwestern University with Frederick Hemke. Her schooling was supported by the Countess of Munster and Help Musician's UK.

Naomi is Senior Saxophone Tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music, leading their renowned Saxophone Department and co-directing their annual Sax Day. Other conservatoire appointments reach back to September 2007 when Naomi started teaching at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and she was Head of their Saxophone Department from 2008 - 2026. In 2021, she began teaching at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Collaboration has led to performance projects in the USA, South Africa, Taiwan, and Europe. The Erasmus exchange programme provided numerous opportunities and connections in Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and Croatia. Naomi continues to travel and collaborate, including performance and masterclasses at the 2025 edition of FISP in Portugal, as well as masterclasses in Spain, Norway, and Lithuania.

Other educational engagements include working for projects lead by BCMG, NYO, Aldeburgh Young Musicians and Music for Everyone.
As an orchestral musician, she has performed with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Halle Orchestra, Aurora Orchestra, Opera Group, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Chineke!, Riot Ensemble, and the Orchestra of the Swan.

Naomi was a resident artist for the Illuminate Series for 2021-2022 and has been part of several chamber groups, including recording albums with Paragon Saxophone Quartet, Syzygy Quartet, and with Flotilla, lead by Kyle Horch.

She is currently performing with the Laefer Quartet who released their debut album, Strata on Coviello classics in 2024. And the international collaborative project, The Violence of Reality exploring the life and work of artist Francis Bacon.
