The plastic on the drum is used to provide the initial impulse anyway, and the rest is taken over by the drum shell. Single-layer ones make sense, g1, uv1. The rest I don't understand why they even exist :)

Using it as a snare batter go get maximum ping with my Ludwig Supraphonic COB 14x6.5! It really sounds amazing with a rimshot and also getting a sweet timbale like sound when you turn the snares off!
